For
sale is a fantastic Steve Broadus New York 'Perfected Model' for
tenor saxophone that has just undergone special treatment by Johannes
Gerber. Cosmetically, you won't find any other hard rubber mouthpiece
that is finished fike this mouthpiece. It's clean, every line
is perfect, every rail, side and tip - perfect... Like all Johannes
Gerber mouthpieces, the sound is balanced very evenly, and response
is instant through the whole range. The mouthpiece behaves consistent
with various reeds and this makes it a dream to play.
The
hard rubber is old, and of the best vintage rubber found. Initially,
the piece had a tip opening of 0.075". After opening it to
0.098" , it has a very nice roll-over baffle which gives
it more projection and a nice edge when pushed. The chamber is
large with rounded sidewalls. The balance between darkness and
projection is remarkable. Altissimo and subtones are effortless.
With
a hard reed this mouthpiece gives a very 'Stan Getz' like sound.

If you like vintage Meyer Bros and Otto Link Slant Sig pieces,
this Steve Broadus will not disappoint you!
