This Florida Link was a very good example of a typical replating job. It had been worked on before and was replated after that work.

Needless to say, some years later, only patches of thick nickel plating remains. Just look at the table...it is SO uneven, that it's impossible for a reed to seal properly.

The rails appear to have been polished on a large buff - they are round and there's no tip rail to speak of.

After cleaning up the table, I reconstructed the facing curve to the correct spec. for the desired tip opening. The photo below illustrates the completed facing (note how there suddenly are defined rails)
At this point I filed the tip rail to the correct tip opening - at the same time creating a smooth rollover baffle.

Some hours later - a vintage mouthpiece brought back to life! All the areas worked on were gold plated again.
